1. Who are you?
My name is Daniel Alford, I am a travel and outdoor photographer from Wales, UK.

2. Where are you now?
Currently at home in Wales, but in the next few months hopefully traveling again to Scotland, Iceland and Santorini.

3. What do you do when you’re not travelling?
When I’m not traveling I am usually editing images from the previous trip and writing about my experiences. If I’m not doing that, I am working for the Journalism Media and Cultural school at Cardiff University.

4. What was the last piece of music you listened to?
Bonobo’s new album has been on repeat today, it’s called ‘Migration’. Beautiful album.

5. Tell us briefly the travel story you shared in LOST.
I shared a project called ‘Tiny People in Big Places’. It was a collection of images from my travels over the years showing ‘tiny’ silhouettes of people in wild and ‘big’ places. I loved how these ‘tiny people’ gave the image a sense of perspective, narrative and scale. It portrays a very human feeling I think, to feel like a speck on a speck in the universe.

6. What do you love about travel?
I love the feeling of being lost and being in a completely unfamiliar place, it’s addictive. I love that everyday you see something new, meet new people and get to learn more about the world and yourself.

7. What do you hate about travel?
Getting home sick. I travel alone most of the time and although this can be amazing it can be difficult at times. Also the waiting around for planes, trains and buses can be quite draining. Have no fear though, it’s all part of the experience and it’s nothing a notepad, a good book or some headphones can’t soothe.

8. Do you like to travel alone or with people? Why?
I travel alone most of the time because I love the space, the freedom, and sense of independence I gain from my experiences. Travelling with people has its perks too of course.

9. What do you think about during travel?
I usually find that when I am alone for a long time in the mountains or in remote places I think about anything and everything during the first few days. As the world around me gets simpler and quieter my brain takes the time to adjust to this new frequency. Usually anything which is unresolved in your mind comes to the surface. It’s a great process to clear your head and organise your thoughts.

As the days go on I start to really focus in on my task of photographing and tuning in to the natural environment. The sounds the smells, the light, everything about the landscape. ‘Is this river safe to drink from?’ ‘When should I stop for food?’ ‘I wonder what the view is like from up there?’ Stuff like that become a priority.

10. Any future travel plans?
A lot of plans at the moment, but a trip I’m very excited about is hopefully a trip to Easter Island in 2018.

除此,我還為 Cardiff University 的 Journalism Media and Cultural school 工作。
